What is Full Grain Leather?
- Full-grain leather is the highest quality form of leather available. As the name suggests, it retains the full leather grain. This is why full-grain leather goods develop a durable protective patina as you use them.
- In contrast, most "genuine" leather products today are using 'split' leather, a much cheaper material. It is created by splitting leather to remove the expensive surface, and replacing it with a leather patten stamped polyurethane (i.e. plastic) layer. In other words, it is plastic leather with real leather stuck to the back so that it can still be marketed as "genuine leather".
