Typeguard Keyboard Protector

Protect your keyboard from the perils of everyday use.

Our waterproof Typeguard protects your keyboard from dust, liquid spills, and other contaminants. It is easy to apply, uses no adhesive, and is washable and reusable.

Typeguard is engineered from 0.2mm ultra-thin, non-toxic, high grade Thermoplastic Urethane ('TPU'), which allows it to be over 50% thinner than regular silicon protectors.

About Typeguard

I cannot find a Typeguard keyboard protector for my device on your website. How do I know if you do/will sell keyboard protectors for it?

Please visit our Coming Soon page.

All upcoming products that we have confirmed we will be selling are listed there, and you can sign up for an email notification of when the product you are waiting for becomes available.

If the product you would like is not listed, please complete our Product Request form and we will discuss it in our weekly product range meeting (your requests do genuinely get heard).

How can I find out if Typeguard is compatible with my device?

Typeguard fits 2010, 2011, and 2012 MacBook and MacBook Pro (13"/15"17") models. It does NOT fit the MacBook Pro with Retina Display.

Why would I want to use Typeguard, or even a keyboard protector in general?

There are a number of reasons:

1) Hygiene:
It has been scientifically proven that there are more bacteria on the average keyboard than on the average toilet seat. Our Typeguard Anti-Bacterial edition prevents the growth of over 600 types of bacteria.

2) Protection from spills and mechanical damage:
Keyboard protectors prevent accidental spills from killing / severely damaging a laptop. They also reduce the occurrence of keyboard mechanical damage (e.g. certain keys ceasing to function properly), due to the subtle cushioning effect they create between the keys and your fingers.

3) Resale value:
If you do not protect your keyboard, it is quite common for the keys to acquire a ‘polished’ appearance over time. This affects the resale value of the device.

Will I definitely notice a difference between the thickness/texture of Typeguard compared to regular silicon keyboard protectors?

Yes absolutely. Typeguard is 0.2mm thin, and the Thermoplastic Urethane material we use is very low friction.
Most silicon keyboard protectors are 0.5mm thick, and have a rubbery texture that adds friction.

Is Typeguard clear, translucent or opaque in appearance?

Our Typeguard Clear edition is very clear (not completely invisible, but not far off). Our Typeguard Anti-Bacterial edition has a translucent greyish appearance to it, due to the silver nanoparticles embedded in it (which provide its anti-bacterial ability).

Is Typeguard waterproof?

Yes absolutely, but it is not watertight (Typeguard sits on top of the keyboard), so make sure not to get any liquids underneath it.

Why should I pick your Typeguard Clear edition over the Anti-Bacterial edition?

Pricing aside (the Clear edition is slightly cheaper), you should pick the clear edition if you would prefer a protector that is almost invisible on the keyboard.

Our Typeguard Clear edition is very clear (not completely invisible, but not far off). Our Typeguard Anti-Bacterial edition has a translucent greyish appearance to it, due to the silver nanoparticles embedded in it (which provide its anti-bacterial ability).

Please note however that (due to it not having anti-bacterial properties), the Clear edition will slowly begin to cloud up if it is not washed periodically. That cloudiness is bacteria.
It has been scientifically proven that there are more bacteria on the average keyboard than on the average toilet seat. Our Typeguard Anti-Bacterial edition prevents the growth of over 600 types of bacteria.

How do I wash Typeguard?

1. Apply a small amount of dishwashing liquid on a damp cloth. NEVER use bathroom soap.

2. Gently rub both sides of Typeguard using the cloth. Excessive force (from either the cloth or your fingers), can result in permanent creases or bending.

3. Rinse Typeguard thoroughly with water, then place it on lint-free tissue paper or kitchen paper until it has dried naturally.
